We’ve been told that a person’s intelligence is fixed. It’s written in our genes and measured by the Intelligence Quotient: IQ. We’ve been told that IQ can’t change, that it’s like height or eye color.

In part, they’re right: with practice, you can only slightly increase your IQ. However, IQ measures something very specific: logical-analytical ability. The kind best suited when there’s enough data and a stable scenario.

But intelligence is much more than logic. The most important manifestation of intelligence is the ability to solve real-world problems. The real world rarely offers certainty or an abundance of information.

Professor Angus Fletcher has demonstrated that humans possess another form of intelligence, older and evolved alongside life itself: Primal Intelligence. The Discovery

The Human Brain Isn’t a Computer

A 17-year-old student at the University of Michigan, Angus Fletcher, doesn’t know what he wants to do with his life. He feels he needs stimulation.

While wandering around campus, he passes by the medical school, near the research labs. As he walks by, a student holds the door open for him, and Angus slips inside, finding himself in a neurophysiology research lab. They mistake him for someone else and recruit him as a researcher.

Angus couldn’t have known it, but this chance event would lead him to Yale, Stanford, Pixar, the labs that create Hollywood stories, artificial intelligence research centers, and a training camp for the most formidable and secretive special operations forces of the U.S. Army.

It was in this neurophysiology lab that Angus Fletcher developed his fundamental insight: The human brain isn’t a computer.
